Romance Is in the Air!

Romance...According to Merriam Webster, the word means:

1

a (1) : a medieval tale based on legend, chivalric love and adventure, or the supernatural (2) : a prose narrative treating imaginary characters involved in events remote in time or place and usually heroic, adventurous, or mysterious (3) : a love story especially in the form of a novel

b : a class of such literature

2

: something (as an extravagant story or account) that lacks basis in fact

3

: an emotional attraction or aura belonging to an especially heroic era, adventure, or activity

What does it mean to me? I describe romance as the act of showing affection to another person. Okay so that's rather simplistic, but that's my definition.

And speaking of romance, I thought I'd share my vote for the most romantic scene from a movie. Now I'm a little biased. Movies right now don't do much for me. I don't know why...but that's me and I am different. But the one I'm thinking of is pretty recent, if within the last 15 years is recent. Giggle. Ever see The Wedding Singer, yeah, that one with Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore? People tend to make fun of this movie, but there were moments of schmaltz and moments of sweetness, too. My favorite part is when Julia (Drew) is trying to figure out what kind of kiss is appropriate for church. Robbie (Adam) is there, so Julia's sister has Julia practice on him. It's completely PG, but it's so steamy and sensual that I love it.

So now here's the interactive part. Want to win a book from my backlist? Yeah? Then tell me what your favorite romance scene is from the movies. Leave you answer, your name and email - because I can't contact you if I don't have that - and you're entered. Easy!

And there's a huge prize up for grabs so make sure you're adding your email and name to the comments! Each one is a little closer to winning!

Now here's the list to keep hopping!

Kinda Funny

I got into a discussion with another author whom I love dearly and we were talking about writing. I know, big shock. But here's the thing, we were talking about writing to the masses or writing what we love.

We both agreed that writing what we love should come first. If we don't love the story and the characters, then it's sort of flat. You know? The author has to be emotionally invested in the whole thing.

But what about if the thing you love, the story you are so invested in it's not funny, isn't selling? Okay, so one could make the case that the author isn't promo-ing enough. Could be. Could be wrong. I promo a lot and just because I'm out there talking about the book doesn't mean people are actually looking at it. Could be that the author is promo-ing wrong? That's a possibility. Authors, though we have an idea of what works, are humans and screw up. We try things that may not work. Could be that the genre is slow all the way around. Romance isn't slowing. But there are sub-genres within that ebb and flow with the interests of the audience. One year cowboys are big, the next it's werewolves. The next? Zombies.

So what if that's not the genre that you write in. For example, I wrote my first wolf shifter this year. I hadn't planned to write him and didn't set out to crack that sub-genre. But I did, because I loved the character and let him do the running for me. I didn't write him for money. I wrote him for the zeal of writing him.

But what if the author feels compelled to write something that's not what they love? What if they turn to writing Urban Fantasy even though they are a historical writer? Is that bad? Is it wrong?

That's where our conversation started. Neither of us were planning on changing what we write, but wondered if it was worth it to start writing say, UF over Historical, or MF over MM. Or if MMFM was worth it.

Authors write because they love to write. I was once told it was because we have ink in our veins. I grin because its true in a lot of ways. If I have a story going and I can't write, I get twitchy. I do.

But authors like to get paid. We like to see the reader comments and the fiscal fruits of our labors. And what if that genre we love isn't bringing in readers or cash? Try something else or keep going? And if we keep going, are we just turning in circles?

My thought is this. If you're writing what you love, have a little variety in it, and are willing to put in the time to promo, the audience will come. Not everyone makes it out of the box selling in big numbers. Some never make the big ones. But if you're happy and there are readers, then you're golden.

I'd love your thoughts. Am I wrong? Right? Crazy? Hey, it's possible. So let me know.

WIP Wednesday

trebuchet / 123RF Stock Photo

It's Wednesday again and time to round up what's on the table to come. I've got plenty of works in progress, but what seems like not enough time to get them done. It's hard, but it's a living.

I've got two Razor stories in the works, one with a kidnapping theme - it's consensual - and one with MMMM vampires. I'm debating one with an office theme, but have to have uninterrupted time to get it done.

I'm taking part in a multi-author series, too. Plus the usual stuff with the Forever Wicked titles. One of these days I'll get organized...but don't count on it.

So off to my bat cave. Maybe I'll even get some writing done. Grin.

Ten Line Tuesday ~ Make Me

Ten Lines from Make Me, my upcoming Razor's Edge release. Enjoy! This one's hot!!!

Zeke leaned against the doorframe and laughed. He jiggled the black pouch in his hand. “If you want this, you have to come here.”

I wasn’t the type of girl to take orders. Submission meant weakness in my book, and I refused to look weak. But I wanted that stupid pouch. Fuck.

“I can see it in your eyes. You want and yet you don’t.”

No shit. The vision of being stretched out across his lap having my ass reddened crossed my mind. I gasped, not out of irritation, but because the better part of me wanted him to do just that and more. I dug my nails into my thighs and stared at him a moment longer. He wanted submission?

Fine.

Sunday Snoggin' ~ Here Without You

How about a hot read with Here Without You. The book just came out and its right to hit the spot if you want a hot read. It's my contribution to the Sunday Snog!!

BIN: 05775-01851
Genre(s): Paranormal, Action Adventure/ Suspense, Guilty Pleasures (Contemporary), Erotic Romance
Theme(s): Gay
Series: Glow (#4)
Length: Novella
Page Count: 69

Some guys have all the luck and some guys love the pain. Slash Gunderson knows that feeling well. His place behind the drums for Glow is a dream come true. Can he accept his need for kink and the man who makes his heart beat?

Hiram Moline loves his job as the head of security for Glow. He's also in love with Slash. There's one major glitch -- someone has been sending Slash threatening letters. Hiram's not about to let anything happen to Slash. Can he convince Slash they've got something strong or will the stalker get the upper hand?

And now for that snog!!

“I don’t want you to not play. I’m scared something will happen to you, but I understand. You need to be creative and show off.” He grabbed Leo’s hand and stroked his knuckles. “Is there any way I can talk you out of it?”

“No.” Leo caught sight of the two of them in the mirror. Hiram always stood taller and loomed over Leo, but side-by-side on the bed they were more equal. But size didn’t mask fear. Maybe the V threat was a little bigger than Leo figured.

“Damn it.” Hiram left the bed and rummaged through his bag. “What if something happens to you? Does that matter? It’s my heart that’s breaking.”

Leo balked. His heart? He didn’t know what to say. “Hiram, I want to be with you. I do, but I know that sitting here curled up in the fetal position at your feet isn’t going to keep V at bay. It won’t change a damn thing. You know? If someone out there wants me dead, they’ll do it.” Leo propped his head in his hands. “Why am I all of the sudden being the level-headed one? I’m never level-headed.”

“Because love makes people act dumb.”

Leo looked up to where Hiram stood, staring out the window. “You’re not dumb.” He eased up behind Hiram and kissed Hiram’s bare shoulder. “Just concerned.”

“I love you, Leo.”

Oh, crap. He’d said it before and sounded like he meant it, but fuck. Was he in love with Hiram? Leo wanted to say the words in return. He wanted to. Had them on the tip of his tongue. He swayed and buried his face in Hiram’s back. “Hiram.” “Don’t worry about it.” Hiram cleared his throat and morphed back into the brawny, stoic attitude. “I might not be on the team any longer, but I’m still a fan and I’m not about to miss a Glow concert.” He turned away from the window, still in Leo’s embrace. “Will you play for me?”

Five Sentence Friday

tradigi / 123RF Stock Photo

It's time for Five Sentence Friday. I thought I'd use Five Sentences from The Air I Breathe. Here are the five sentences!!!

He rubbed the bulge in his jeans against Luc’s groin. “I’m always game with you.”

“Taygan.”

“Yes, say my name.” Taygan threaded his fingers into Luc’s hair and tugged. “Slap my ass, tie me up and make me come.”

Ten Line Tuesday!

Ten Lines from the WIP... Cuz it's a WIP kind of day. So... (Digging in WIP)...how about this? Grin.

“Hold still and they won’t eat you.”

I dragged a breath into my burning lungs and took in my surroundings. Three men stood around me, two with their backs to me and one standing at my feet. I took another breath and let it out slowly, then glanced down at my body. Fuck me sideways, I was naked. Whatever they had me stretched out on, I had my arms spread open and my ankles in manacles. I didn’t bother to move my wrists. They probably had those in cuffs, too. I tipped my head to the man who had spoken to me.

“Hold very still. Pretend to be dead.” The man loosened the cuff around my ankle. A lock of his hair fell in his eyes and the muscle in his jaw worked overtime. He didn’t just release me from the bond, he caressed me.

“I don’t think this one is coming around,” he said. “He’s still pale.”

Monday Moans - Make Me

I love a white hot story and Make Me doesn't disappoint. It's hot and steamy and fun.

Make Me

Available here soon!

A crop, some rope, a sweet little plug...just what she wants, and all she had to say was make me.

Dixie wanted out of the daily rut and a night to reconnect with her husband. What she got went far beyond her wildest dreams. Who knew a Tuesday night could be so white hot?

Now here's that moan!!

“You got farther than I thought.”

I screamed and whirled around. “Damn it.”

Fine.

Then again, how could I not submit to him? He embodied everything I wanted in a man. Towering at over six feet tall, thick hair the perfect shade of brown and lanky enough to droop over his forehead a little, perpetual five o’clock shadow, and those muscles. He spent enough time with the weights to stay toned and sexy as hell. Did I mention he was barefoot? Yeah, he was. He looked like he’d stepped out of a men’s fashion catalogue.

I’d submit, after I gave him some sass. I sucked in a ragged breath and crossed to his position at the door. “What do you want from me?”

He crooked one brow. “I want everything. Turn around.”

Sunday Snoggin' with Wild Flower

How about a hot read with Wild Flower. The book just came out and its right to hit the spot if you want a hot read. It's my contribution to the Sunday Snog!!

Wild Flower
Glow Band Book 5
Genres and Themes: Erotic Romance, Novella, Paranormal, Magic, Werewolves

She's the key to his destiny, if he's willing to embrace a position of power.

Ansen doesn't believe he's alpha material. He lives life on his own terms and keeps feelings out of the equation -- until a chance meeting at a Glow concert turns his world upside down.

Willow likes having all access to her favorite band. She lives in the shadows and keeps the band's fan site running without fail. But one glimpse of the dark stranger proves there's more to life than a laptop screen.

But is he too much of a gamble if her heart is the ultimate prize?

And now for that snog!!

A tiny part of her screamed to be careful. She'd been down dangerous roads before. Willow measured her breathing and relaxed into the simple innocence of meeting someone at a concert. The music swelled around them and washed away some of her inhibitions. She loosened up and ground against him.

Mr. Handsome didn't grab her, didn't push her. He moved with her and sang to her. The guy was like a dream come true. She turned in his arms and buried her face against his chest. The song blared around her in a pulsing rhythm, but nothing mattered except her and Mr. Handsome.

He threaded his fingers into her hair and tipped her head. Willow clutched his shirt. What harm could come from a simple kiss? She rose up on her toes and met him for the kiss. The scrape of his five o'clock shadow abraded her cheeks. The cola on his tongue exploded in her mouth.

The music dulled to nothing and the rush of the crowd disappeared. She opened her eyes and stared up at him. For a split second, a flash of yellow colored the blue of his irises. She broke the kiss and jerked backwards.

Mr. Handsome released her. "Sorry. I got caught up in you, Wild Flower."

WIP Wednesdays

trebuchet / 123RF Stock Photo

Holy crap. It's WIP Wednesday already? Sheesh. Feels like it should still be Olympic time. Not already past that time. Sheesh.

Now about those WIPs. I've got a lot on the plate these days. There are two really that have my attention. I let the cat out of the bag on the one kind of already on Love Romances Cafe. I'm planning a MM gymnast story. Yes, I dig the flexibility. And those arms. Doggone. Aiden and Dylan have been talking and it's quite nice.

EXCEPT...

Lennon and Conor have been talking to me, too. Don't know Lennon or Conor? Yeah, I didn't either. Lennon is one of River's former students. Remember River? And he's been kicked around by life--and a twisted Dom. Seems the club River and Lennon were at has now earned a rep for being rougher than could be considered legal. Anyway, they are talking to me, too. Puts a new twist on dick for brains. Four equally emo men all chattering at the same time. It's complicated.

So I'm stuck in the land of emotional men. It could be a lot worse. I'll take it. So it's now back to the bat cave. I've got to get something accomplished. Grin.

“I have a surprise for you.”

“What?” Luc strolled out of the bathroom. “There’s nothing I want.”

“Baloney.”

“No, I don’t like baloney.”

“Har. Close your eyes.”

Luc cocked his hip and did as told. He held out his hands. “Whatever it is, you don’t have to.”

“I know. Now open.”

Luc opened his eyes and wobbled on his feet. “You’re freaking kidding. A ’59 Les Paul.” He hesitated before touching the neck of the classic guitar. “Where did you get this?”

He's lonely without Tay, and his pride can't take losing him again. It's up to Luc to decide, but can he live with his decision?

Taygan thought he could handle his element and have a permanent relationship with Luc -- until the need to follow the wind element took over. But being away from Luc is killing Tay's element. To make things worse, Luc's not waiting around for Tay any longer. What’s a guy to do when his lover is the very air he breathes?

Available here!!!

“You’re not much warmer.” Luc rested his chin on Taygan’s shoulder. “Start from the beginning and don’t leave a thing out.”

Taygan sagged into Luc and closed his eyes. Tears pricked behind his eyelids. The beginning. Try about the time he’d first met Lucien Moline. Tay sighed. “It’s complicated.”

“I like complicated. It’s my best riff.” Luc rubbed a washcloth over Tay’s chest. “Talk to me.”

“Things started to go off the rails when I first met you.” Taygan swallowed past the lump in his throat. “My world spun out of control.”

“I’m a bad influence,” Luc cooed. “You like it.”

“I do, but I don’t understand it. I don’t.” The words poured out faster than Taygan could dam them up. “When we’re together, I’m stronger. My element is lighter and I’m happy. But then it gets too strong or heavy or whatever it is, and I can’t stand it. I have to move. I want to stay and have our life right here, but I can’t control it. Deep down in my soul, I don’t want to leave you. I want to be right here in your arms, and every time I have to leave, I know you’re sick of me going. One day you’re not going to take me back, and it scares me shitless.” Tears streamed down his cheeks and his voice cracked. “I’m scared.”

Luc drew a long breath and let it out slowly. He wrapped his arms around Taygan, squeezing tight. “Can I at least help you figure out the riddle you keep talking about?”

“By all means.” Taygan threaded his fingers with Luc’s and rested his forehead on Luc’s temple. “Last Christmas was the strongest I’ve ever felt.”

Chuckling, Luc ground his pelvis against Tay’s ass. “We’ve got part of this thing figured out.”

Kele Moon's Star Crossed

It's a blurb blitz today for Kele Moon's Star Crossed. Make sure you comment because there is a $25 GC up for grabs. Follow the tour here or click the banner. Now here's a little bit about the book:

Heavyweight UFC fighter, Romeo Wellings comes from the hard streets of New York where his family ties to the mafia cause him nothing but pain. His life takes a surprising detour when he crosses paths with the twin sister of his long time enemy. After a steamy one-night stand, he faces the fight of his life, but it’s not in the cage. The secret relationship that blooms between Romeo and his real life Juliet has him battling his family and a dark past rather than let her go.

The only lawyer in her hometown of Garnet, Jules Conner is also a volunteer Sheriff’s deputy and co-owner of a successful MMA training center. Strong and dependable, Jules is always there for those who need her. Until one forbidden night in Las Vegas with Romeo leaves her feeling so alive she can’t stop reaching out to the sexy, bad boy of MMA, even knowing the forbidden love affair could jeopardize everything.

As the tide rises against them and the people they love work at keeping them apart, Romeo and Jules hold onto a dream for a better life together and vow to go down fighting rather than accept a tragic ending.

How about an excerpt? Sure Romeo had suspected she’d be ticked about him paying for dinner, but he didn’t give a fuck. He wasn’t letting her pay for their date, and besides, she looked hot as hell with her cheeks flushed in anger and those icy blue eyes narrowed at him. He’d have paid twice to see it.

He ignored her rather than respond, because he was still fighting down an attraction that was overwhelming to the point it almost scared him. He honestly couldn’t remember the last time he’d wanted a woman as badly. Instead he pulled out the key card the front desk had given him and reached around Jules to open the door.

She huffed indignantly as he pushed the door open. “I’m talking to you.”

“I heard you.”

“You genuinely disappointed me.” She sounded stricken as she followed behind him. “I thought you were different from the fellas I’m used to, but it turns out you’re the same and—” Romeo pushed the door closed behind her, and Jules turned when it clicked shut. “What’re you doing?”

Romeo stepped into her personal space and then leaned forward to breathe her in. The perfume she wore was dark and seductive rather than sweet and floral like most women wore. Jesus, this woman even smelled perfect.

When Romeo moved to kiss her, she turned her head petulantly. Her breathing was shallow, her body tense, but she obviously wasn’t inclined to give in—yet.

He bent down and whispered against the smooth line of her throat, “I didn’t pay for dinner to be a chauvinist. I did it because I enjoyed your company, and I felt like you were worth it. Is that so bad?”

Jules appeared unmoved by his impassioned plea. “You think you’re charming.”

“Sometimes,” Romeo admitted, a smile tugging at his lips. “But it’s still the truth. I wanna kiss you, Juliet. Look at me.”

“No.” Jules’s voice was a low rasp, sounding like the denial hurt. “Maybe this is a mistake. I thought about it while I was walking up here. This is all wrong and—”

She was going to be stubborn, so Romeo took the initiative and cupped her face in both his large hands. He forced her to turn to him and studied her stunning features for one breathless moment. Her body tightened defensively, but she didn’t fight him as only the sound of their labored breathing filled the air. Jules’s eyes were wide, her cheeks more flushed than ever. Then she licked her full, lush bottom lip in a quick swipe of anticipation.

That was all the invitation he needed.

Romeo leaned down and kissed her before she got a chance to think about things any more than she already had. Jules moaned in response and arched into him. Her lips parted to his, soft and hungry for more. Romeo knew he was already too far gone as he deepened the kiss and greedily took what she was offering.

Here's a little bit more about Kele:

A freckle-faced redhead born and raised in Hawaii, Kele Moon has always been a bit of a sore thumb and has come to enjoy the novelty of it. She thrives on pushing the envelope and finding ways to make the impossible work in her story telling. With a mad passion for romance, she adores the art of falling in love. The only rules she believes in is that, in love, there are no rules and true love knows no bounds. So obsessed is she with the beauty of romance and the novelty of creating it, she’s lost in her own wonder world most of the time. Thankfully she married her own dark, handsome, brooding hero who has infinite patience for her airy ways and attempts to keep her grounded. When she leaves her keys in the refrigerator or her cell phone in the oven, he’s usually there to save her from herself. The two of them now reside in Florida with their three beautiful children, who make their lives both fun and challenging in equal parts—they wouldn’t have it any other way.

Atria Moline isn't your average photographer. She controls fire. Sounds fun, being able to scorch whenever you like? Think again. She's lonely and desperate for the touch of the man who can dance in her flame--if she doesn't immolate him first.

Zac "Iceman" Frost controls the stage with his band Glow. He's not about to back down from Atria's challenge. He'd got secrets of his own and his sights set on her.

Contains some hot sex between a fire elemental and a sexy water elemental.

And now for those ten lines!!

“Sweets, I promise. No one is going to hurt you.” He rubbed his cheek on the top of her head. “How long have you been awake? You’re run ragged.”

“I’ve been up since yesterday afternoon, but thanks for making me feel beautiful.” She sagged back against him, indulging in the spicy, male scent of him and the comfort in his embrace. The tiny voice in the back of her mind stopped screaming at her to run. He might not be permanent, but Zac would keep her safe.

“I’ll show you around the grounds tomorrow morning, but right now let’s go in and crash. The guest room has a great big bed, and it’s calling your name.” With his arm still around her shoulders, Zac led her toward the house. “And yes, you’re always beautiful to me.”

Now for a steamy excerpt!!

“Yeah, I’m not enjoying it like I used to, and I have other ways to bolster my income. I’ll let someone a little younger and a lot less long in the tooth take over my place.”

“Wow, now there’s a scoop for the tabloids.” I laugh but Mike stiffens, and I realise it was a silly joke to make.

“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean that. Well it was a joke. I’d never ever—I just wouldn’t.” I trip over the words in my eagerness to make things right.

“No, no you’ve gone too far.” His hand squeezes my arm and his eyes don’t show the same anger as his words. “You’re going to have to be punished for speaking out of turn you impudent wench.”

Ah, now I know what he’s doing and the pit of my stomach is rolling like a machine full of lottery balls.

“I’m so sorry, sir, please don’t punish me. I’ll watch my tongue in future, I promise.”

“You will do wench, but you still need punishing. Stand up.”

I jump up off the sofa like I bounced up on a broken spring.

“Now young lady, follow me.” He stands up and walks me back out into the corridor then across it to a room I’ve not been in before. One of many actually from the length of the corridor and the doors along it. When the door swings open, I can see clearly that it’s a study.

An old wood desk dominates the middle of the room. It’s back faces a massive window which shines as black as Whitby jet filled with the night sky. In one corner of the room is a simple high backed chair with no arms. This is where he chooses to sit down and after shutting the door behind me I stand before him.

“Now only a young, foolish child would speak without thinking, so you’ll receive a childish punishment. Over my knees now young lady.” I hesitate, biting my lip. “NOW!” He barks, making me jump. “Don’t question me young lady, or you’ll not be able to sit down for a fortnight.”

I concede and lower myself awkwardly to his lap, the bottom of my clothed breasts rubbing the outside of his thigh, my pubis pushing gently against the other. He quickly raises my skirt, folding it back over my bottom then he rips down the satin black knickers beneath.

He rubs his hand gently over the curve of my buttocks and I bite my lip, not wanting to moan out in case it enflames him more. I’ve never been spanked before but my cunt is wet and my nipples aching. However I’m not sure how much pain I can take. The idea is pleasurable, but the practicalities of it all make me anxious. I want to enjoy it, it’s obviously something he enjoys; I can feel his erection against my stomach. But I just don’t know how much punishment I’ll be able to take.

Suddenly, the thought is shocked from my mind as his usually soft hand slaps down with stinging harshness. It shocks me but it isn’t too uncomfortable. The next slap creates more heat than sharpness. I gasp and press my pubis forward trying to escape the next slap. It burns and I really start to question how much I can take.

It’s then that he gently caresses my burning rump and I mewl like a contented kitty until he snaps his hand back and slams it against my flesh several times in quick succession making me yelp with the stinging pain.

His fingers skim over my heated flesh then dip between my buttocks, tracing down between my thighs as they fall open for him, dipping into the moisture pooling there and gently teasing my clit.

“Such a horny little slut, enjoying her spanking.” He tuts and slaps my buttocks hard once more. I feel tears testing the corners of my eyes and want to yell out for him stop but I hold it in while the next two slaps fall.

“Stand up, wench.” He commands and I comply, though my legs feel shaky, and my knickers are dangling between my knees, making it decidedly difficult to stand up and keep my balance at the same time. He grabs my arm and drags me; well he never gets far in front of me so it’s more like he’s roughly leading me actually, until we reach the hefty desk. He kisses me and whispers in my ear. “You’re so fucking sexy, damn it.” He presses me down against the cold hard wood until my cheek is lying flat against its shocking coldness and my breasts are pressed down hard against the surface.

“Spread your legs,” he commands and I stretch them as far as I can, which actually isn’t far with the knickers hobbling me. Mike flips up my skirt exposing my still stinging buttocks to the air and his eyes. His soft lips kiss the reddened flesh evoking a gasp at the tenderness in the action. I close my eyes and wait for what will come next. I hear the clink of a belt buckle, and hear him curse as he struggles to undo his zip. I wonder if he’s having problems getting his hard on out. I could feel its stirrings pressing against my stomach when he spanked me, and I know it’s a solid robust thing, not made for bending or getting out of tight places. Getting into them; well that’s a whole different issue. The tell-tale crinkle of a condom packet heightens my anticipation. I know he’s going to fuck me and I can’t wait.

Five Sentence Friday ~ WIP Sentences

tradigi / 123RF Stock Photo

This is for a vampire story I'm working on at the moment. I tend not to make my vampires play by the average vampire rules. No one sparkles, but sometimes they do eat. Shrug. To each their own.

Here are those five lines.

“I’m excited.” For more than just a drawing. He shrugged and shifted to get comfortable. “I like being around you.”

“I see that.” Happy with the drape of the sheet, she took her place in the computer chair and flipped to the correct page in her drawing pad. “I’ll work around it.”

Travel Thursdays

Today is more of a rant about somewhere I went rather than a story about how great somewhere was. I love to visit the library. It's a great place to go for research and the smell of the books is awesome. Yes, I'm one of those people. Shrug. So I happened to be there in the BAT - big a** truck. I had to jet off a quick email, so I climbed into BAT and pulled up the email on my phone. I didn't start BAT because I didn't see the need to waste diesel while I typed the email. I should've opened the windows, but I didn't think it would take that long. So I'm typing and these three young people stroll out of the library. Fine. They get into the car next to me. I made eye contact with the driver. He looked at me, then got into the car. I hear this THUMP. What the f**k? Then I hear him say, "oh shit. I just hit the _____." I have no idea what he said in the blank, but it irked me because he didn't say anything. Now I am pretty sure he thought there was no one in the truck. So... I started the truck and put the windows down. Oh and the radio was going. I turned that off. I hear, "OH SHIT." He and the female companions book it into the car and peel out of the parking lot. I know about where his door was, so I am pretty sure he hit the plastic part of the wheel well. But since he left and I didn't have his license number, I couldn't really do much. I got out and looked and nothing seemed amiss. Here's the thing. There was a witness. One of the library workers was out there having lunch. He saw it. The kid made a mistake and knocked his door into my truck. Plain and simple. My problem with the whole thing is this. The kid had no courtesy. He hit my truck, albeit not hard, and ran. No "I'm sorry" no, "I didn't mean to do that" he just booked it out of the lot. IMHO that's an admission of guilt. Yes, the BAT is a big truck. Yes, men tend to drive trucks. But it's not my fault if he didn't look before he bashed. It's also not my fault he ran away. I won't stay away from the library, but I will certainly find the farthest out spot to park in next time.

Plain and simple, if you do something like that just say you're sorry. If it's a catastrophic, then do the right thing. Seriously. No one is in control of your actions but you. Do the right thing. Please? Make the world a better place. Besides, responsible is sexy.

WIP Wednesday!

trebuchet / 123RF Stock Photo

Have you been watching the Olympics? I very much have been. It's intoxicating because even when I know who got what medal - we get to see everything late here in the USA - and it's posted when it happens. Anyway, I'm loving watching them. My writing on the computer hasn't gone too far because I'm distracted, but the ideas are flowing fast and crazy. Four words: male divers, male gymnasts. HOLY COW. I don't know much about diving or gymnastics, but I'm ready to learn. Grin.

So the vampire story I posted the snippet from and that happens to be a free read at Changeling and ARe...it's flowing a bit more. Okay, by flowing, I mean I added a whopping 1k to it, but some days 1k is a monumental amount. If the story isn't wanting to go anywhere and nothing wants to be written, those small amounts are worth it. Anyway, there's progress being made.

I'm planning out the next Challenge story. It's got a good foundation. Now if the gymnastics would be over (not really, because I like them), I could get more done on it.
Lennon and his friend are talking. They're from Permanent, sort of. Tangent characters. Anyway, I'm planning theirs out, too.

Now I'm out to go write. :-) Got to have something for you to read. Enjoy!
