Birthday Fun and a Jaunt Down Memory Lane!

This hop is all about birthdays since Carrie-Ann is celebrating hers. So for my contribution to the birthday bliss, I'd like to share my favorite birthday memory. The memory itself doesn't start out real well. The year I turned 20, I was in my second year of college. I was also in this art history class that had I paid more attention I would've been fine in. Yeah, I wasn't real interested in paying attention. Anyway, so I'm in the midst of this class and studying for a huge test when I got a phone call. My great grandfather had passed. I had no idea what to do. Go home? Take the test my mind wasn't on? My BF who is now my DH helped out. I made it to the glass, but I didn't pass the test. Bombed it like you wouldn't believe. But, I realized that I couldn't let the grief take over. We went to the calling hours--on my birthday--and through it all DH was right there. My favorite part, which it was a cruddy day, but my favorite part was the cake he'd made me. He didn't have any one particular color of frosting and he'd remembered I had a hippie streak a mile wide. The frosting was a swirl of every color and a little jagged. But it was the best cake ever. That's my memory.

So, now that you've read my little jaunt down memory lane, here's the payoff. I've got a $5 GC to Changeling Press up for grabs. What do you have to do? Tell me about your favorite birthday memory! Sure. Leave your comment and your email. Remember, each comment is not only an entry into my giveaway, but also to the MAIN giveaway. Yep. I'd love for you to follow me on Facebook, follow my blog, and to follow me on Twitter, but they aren't expected. Do that because you want to.

The hop ends at midnight on the 6th and I'll announce the winner on the 7th. Keep your eyes peeled!

And now here's the rest of the folks on the hop:

One of my favorites came from the 70's I was turning 10 I thing and there was a huge package on top of the tv and it was odd shapped. Everytime I went near it or tried to touch it my da would make a noise and make me jump. When it was time to open the gifts it was a huge multicolored tye-dye frog. I loved it, had it for years.

What a sweetheart your DH was to do his best - no wonder you married him :D

Thank you so much for participating in this hop and for the giveaway op!

Happy Birthday to Carrie and to everyone that is celebrating an April birthday!

My best birthday was my 19th. Back then, in Iowa, 19 was the legal drinking age, so my mom and I went out and she bought me my first drink. The rest of the night became a blur as everyone else in the bar supplied my drinks, lol. She'd left at some point and my best friend poured me into her car and took me home. 'Twas a fun night from what I can remember though! :D

Although I don't really care for celebrating my birthday, I'd say my favorite was when a woman I met online flew me to England. It just so happened that it was around my birthday so she took me and some of her friends and family out to a TGIF for my birthday.

Thank you for the giveaway opportunity!

I guess one of my favorites when I was growing up was the year the Care Bears first came out and were so popular. I loved them and really wanted Tender Heart. Considering my birthday is right before Christmas (20th) my mom had to have searched hard to find that particular bear. But over 20 years later, I still have it, lol.

Happy Birthday Carrie!

Favorite birthday...I would say it was my 40th. I got my new tattoo, a garter with a Derringer, around my thigh and spent the day shopping and going to lunch with my mom. Yep, just me and mom! It was great.

I love Carrie Ann and I'm glad to wish her a HAPPY, HAPPY Birthday. And how sweet that she and her friends are giving away things on her special day.

My hubby takes me out on my birthday, to a favorite restaurant of choice. More special is my hubby's b'day, which is also our anniversary. I give him a birthday gift and he gives me any anniversary present. It's a Win-Win day!

I really don't have a favorite, but my grandkids make my birthday special every year by making me cards. I always enjoy their homemade cards better than the ones you buy and spend a fortune on.

What a great way to discover new authors/blogs and visit with old friends. Everybody wins this way! LOL

Every birthday is a gift and I love them all. I can't remember any one that stands out above the rest, but i guess my 21st birthday would be the best, cause I was finally legal.

Thanks for being part of the hop and for the chance to win such a fantastic prize! <^_^>

I've had a lot of really awesome birthdays! lol -- one of the coolest recently was when my boyfriend at the time took me on a surprise vacation to Mexico -- complete with incredible hotels,
unlimited spa service and a car & driver so we could do all kinds of touristy things!

I'm thankful for many happy birthdays--I love the ones celebrated with friends and family with a special meal, whether at a restaurant or at home. One memorable one with DH was at a fancy Japanese restaurant, sans kids :) Sometimes it's nice for it to be just the two of us ;)
